KMG Prestige is a fee-based property management firm specializing in the management of multi-family residential housing. Established in 1992, KMG Prestige’s portfolio has grown from 2500 to over 18,000 dwelling units and select commercial properties with locations in 315 cities in Michigan, California, Indiana, Illinois and Ohio, with plans to expand to Georgia and North Carolina by 2010. Families, elderly, and handicapped individuals are served in subsidized, tax credit, rural development, conventional and luxury rental communities. Four principals, who are also operating officers of the firm, share KMG Prestige’s ownership. The ownership is accessible to all of KMG Prestige’s clients and employees and prides itself on its commitment to the organization’s success. Paul Spencer - began his 19 year property management career with Oakwood Apartments, a developer, owner and Management Company that specializes in Class A short-term corporate housing. Paul entered the affordable housing field in 1995 where he supervised a diverse portfolio of market rate, project based Section 8, 236, RAP, Rent Sup, Tax Credit, Bond Financed and HOPE VI communities in a seven state region. Karen Mead - For over 25 years Karen has been intensively involved in the property management industry. She is currently responsible for the growth associated with third party real estate investment management and consulting of our current and future clients. She previously held the position of VP of Property Management with Keystone Management Group where she was responsible for the supervision of eight Regional Property Managers, covering over 8,000 units. In 2007, she acquired an ownership interest in the company and was very instrumental in it's growth. Karen's experience includes a full spectrum of operations with all programs associated with the affordable housing arena as well as market rate developments. Jennifer Allen - is the Vice President of Financial Services and CFO for KMG Prestige. Her career in property management began in 1998 when she joined Boston Financial Group as an Accounting Manager, and continued with Keystone Management Group, where she served as Controller from 2000 through 2006. As graduate with honors from Alma College, Jennifer holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration, with an Emphasis in Accounting.
In her current capacity as VP of Financial Services, Jennifer is directly responsible for managing and directing the support center operations within the Accounting, Accounts Payable and Tax Credit Compliance departments. This includes reviewing and implementing policies and procedures related to these areas, as well as overseeing all financial reporting requirements and compliance reporting requirements for the entities managed by KMG Prestige.
Jennifer’s experience and leadership in property management have developed through working directly with MSHDA, HUD and the USDA Rural Development agencies, as well as with conventional financing sources. Throughout her career in property management, she has had the opportunity to work closely with various owners and tax credit syndicators, including Great Lakes Capital Fund, Centerline, MMA Financial, PNC Multifamily, Boston Capital and National Equity Fund, as well as develop strong working relationships with several public accounting firms specializing in real estate management. Jeff Schaeffer - is Vice President of Learning and Support Services and has been in property management since February of 2003. He has been involved in leadership and management training for more than 25 years in four different fields.
Jeff holds a bachelors degree from Hofstra University in New York and did his graduate work at Johnson State in Vermont.
His focus has been on clearly defining the great culture that differentiates KMG Prestige from its competitors in property management, as well as creating values and principle based leadership development, site-specific training, and personal growth activities to help KMG Prestige employees maximize their learning potential.
Jeff is dedicated to the “inside/out” approach to the development of present and future KMG Prestige Leaders by focusing on each person’s individual needs.
